Rex Raymond is the co-founder and CEO of Broken Plank Rum, an ultra-premium rum distillery based in Sarasota, Florida. A serial entrepreneur with a passion for brand development, Rex has spent over two decades building and scaling businesses, most recently merging his successful advertising agency with another firm. His expertise in marketing, digital advertising, and social media strategy has positioned him as a commodity for building compelling brands.

With Broken Plank Rum, Rex saw an opportunity to build an international spirits brand with the same meticulous attention to detail that defined his career. He leads the company’s vision while working closely with Master Distiller Marty Martel to ensure every bottle reflects the highest quality. Broken Plank Rum’s handcrafted approach—using fancy-grade Caribbean molasses, specialized yeasts, and innovative finishing techniques—sets it apart in the ultra-premium category.

Born in Sarasota and raised between Florida and Georgia, Rex developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors, spending his time fishing, hunting, and playing sports. After graduating from college in 2002, he returned to Sarasota, where he and his wife, Merry Beth, have raised their two children, Trey and Mollie. Beyond business, Rex is dedicated to philanthropy, actively supporting children’s charities and military veterans’ organizations.
